A Look Back at 2025

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re feeling all kinds of thankful—reflecting on an unforgettable year filled with milestones, memories, and more margaritas than we can count (well… almost). Jorge’s Cantina wouldn’t be what it is without the love, loyalty, and support of the Waco community. So before we dive into all that 2026 has in store, let’s take a look back at the incredible ride this past year has been.

Listening, Evolving & Serving Better

In February, we kicked off the year with a fresh menu revamp, built around suggestions from you—our guests. We listened to what Waco wanted more of, what you wanted less of, and what new twists we could bring to the table. The result? A bold, flavorful refresh that still keeps the heart of Jorge’s intact.

Recognition That Means the World

In April, Jorge’s Cantina was named the Heart of Texas Champion in Mexican Food by Modern Texas Living. Then in October, we were proudly voted Best in Waco across several categories—including Mexican Restaurant, Chips & Salsa, Tacos, and Enchiladas. We also placed in the Mocktails and Happy Hour categories.

We don’t take any of that lightly. Thank you, Waco, for recognizing our team’s passion and hard work—it fuels everything we do.

In the Spotlight

In May, Jorge’s was featured in the Taste of Waco video series produced by the City of Waco, where our high-quality entrées and bar program took center stage. From premium liquors to scratch-made dishes, we were honored to share what makes Jorge’s special.

September brought more exciting exposure, with Sammy Citrano, owner of Jorge’s and George’s, featured on The Zac Owen Show, and Kyle Citrano sharing behind-the-scenes stories on the Texas 10 Podcast. We love every chance to share the story behind the flavor.

Moments Worth Celebrating

We had a blast hosting Dos Equis tastings—one in June, and a second in August. These events brought the community together over cold beer, good company, and great food.

On June 27, we celebrated our one-year anniversary—and what a year it was. We poured over 6,000 margaritas, served 21,000+ dishes, and discovered our top two menu items:

– Queso & Chips with over 2,400 orders
– Chicken & Beef Fajita Combo, our most-sizzled item, with 1,800+ orders

We can’t thank you enough for making year one so special.

Leadership & Community Honors

In November, our very own Kyle Citrano was honored as a 2025 Waco Under 40 recipient—a recognition of his leadership, commitment to hospitality, and deep connection to the Waco community.

We’re also proud of the countless parties, events, and catering gigs we’ve been a part of throughout the year. Whether you celebrated with us or trusted us to bring the flavor to your event, we’re truly grateful.

Looking Ahead

From our entire team at Jorge’s Cantina—thank you. Thank you for showing up, cheering us on, telling your friends, and making us part of your celebrations, lunches, date nights, and everything in between.

In 2026, we’re keeping that momentum going. We’re improving our catering menu to better serve everything from office lunches to big family gatherings, and we’re actively looking for more local events to get involved with—because community is at the heart of everything we do. We’re also exploring new event ideas right here at Jorge’s, so keep an eye out for tastings, themed nights, and fun surprises throughout the year.

We’re also proud to share that Kyle Citrano will be serving as Treasurer of the Texas Restaurant Association in 2026—a role that reflects his leadership, passion for hospitality, and ongoing commitment to strengthening the restaurant industry across Texas.

Here’s to more queso, more margaritas, more memories—and even more ways to connect with Waco.
